Your blog is fascinating - I'm really intrigued by your investigation into the mechanics of how fictional narratives play on our expectations, cultural norms, and sense of decorum, especially the aspects of these that have been instilled in us by other fictional narratives.
This is something I've touched on, in a less scientific way, in my analysis of Red Desert (especially parts 9 and 16). I think the film plays with and subverts the conventions of 'adultery dramas' and especially the kinds of love triangles familiar from film noir - e.g. The Postman Always Rings Twice, Double Indemnity, Ossessione, Story of a Love Affair. There's a little bit of Brief Encounter in there as well, which I've always thought of as a distorted-mirror-image of Double Indemnity.

I look forward to reading more of your work!
